We know ICE is a rogue organization that is responsible for the physical and emotional violence of immigrants in [County Name]. 287g is a symptom of larger anti-immigrant agenda and is a voluntary program your department chose to engage in; participation in this program is not mandatory. We are asking you to choose not to renew on behalf of community members which you pledged to protect.

This program encourages local law enforcement to racially profile members of the community, increasing tensions amongst communities of color and law enforcement. This law was designed to increase deportations, and in turn, causes your officers to separate families and push the capacity of local foster care shelters. This program does not increase the safety of our community, as ICE is a department known for inflicting violence and disorder in our community.

We strongly urge you not to continue the misuse of our local taxpayer dollars by engaging with ICE officials through this program.
