Keep the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program!

Members of Congress and Attorneys General,

My name is Adrian Reyna, and I am protected from deportation because of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. My sister has DACA, as well as many of my friends and family members.

Nearly 800,000 people with DACA without the risk of deportation have been able to stay with our families. We provide critical income for our families. We’ve made a living, bought new homes, started new jobs, gave our mothers and fathers the support they’ve given us. You have the power to ensure this doesn't happen and the program stays in place by speaking up publicly about DACA.

Keeping DACA and protecting immigrants from deportation is important to me because we deserve a life of dignity and respect. Holding up Donald Trump’s promises is an act of hate and strips immigrants from our humanity.

We ask that you publicly defend the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) from recent attacks with a statement about how it benefits your state.

Why is this important?

This is important, because hundreds of thousands of workers, families, and immigrants depend on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. If enough of us demand that General Kelly take a stance in favor of keeping the program, we can be a step closer to protecting nearly 800,000 people from deportation.

Reasons for signing

  • Because daca is my life
  • All DACA recipients are Americans. The U.S. is their country, their home. If they were to be deported to their place of birth, they would not have support systems, homes, or jobs. Some don't even speak the language of their country of birth. These are people brought here as children, minors, and this country is what they know. These are your people, your constituents. Fight for them, protect them. Be a follower of Christ, not just a fan.
  • This is my country too! I am currently a certified Radiographer and this would affect me in so many ways. Also, I just got in the MRI program at UNM school of medicine. I am also applying for PA school next year and is a goal that can be taken away from me. I currently hold both an associates degree and a bachelors degree in Radiology. I hope to get my masters in the future.

Why we must fight! http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN1532T3

"Trump is expected to sign an executive order in his first few days to direct the building of a wall on the southern border with Mexico, and actions to limit the entry of asylum seekers from Latin America, among several immigration-related steps his advisers have recommended.

That includes rescinding Obama's order that allowed more than 700,000 people brought into the United States illegally as children to stay in the country on a two-year authorization to work and attend college, according to several people close to the presidential transition team.

It is unlikely Trump's order will result in an immediate roundup of these immigrants, sources told Reuters. Rather, he is expected to let the authorizations expire."
